1940s Wrought Iron Wall Mirror, Raymond Subes Style
An exceptional vintage wall mirror crafted in the distinctive manner of the legendary French master metalsmith Raymond Subes. This striking piece features a central circular mirror encased within an elaborate hand-forged wrought iron framework. The design showcases heavy multi-layered scrollwork and stylised acanthus-inspired curlicues that wrap the glass, anchored by a prominent textured central clasp at the base.
Suspended from an integrated heavy-gauge iron link chain, the piece balances industrial strength with neoclassical elegance. The iron has a nuanced dark finish with subtle silvery undercurrents, highlighting the hammered texture of the artisan work.
Excellent vintage condition. The hand-forged wrought iron frame is structurally sound, showing a beautiful aged patina. The mirror glass is clean, clear, and firmly secured within the frame, with no notable degradation; however, please note a small chip to the top left of the glass.
