French Art Deco Wrought Iron Wall Mirror, circa 1940s
An exceptional French Art Deco wrought iron wall mirror, dating to the 1930s or 1940s.
The mirror frame features a heavy, hand-hammered flat iron border. Reflecting traditional, artisanal French construction of the era, the original thick, heavy glass plate is held purely by six heavy-gauge industrial iron clips without a secondary backing board. This open-back execution is typical of custom blacksmith forge-work from the period.
A highly decorative, sculptural piece of mid-century French metalwork.
- Width: 52 cm
- Height: 63 cm
Good vintage condition. The wrought iron frame is structurally sound, stable, and heavy, showcasing an authentic matte black finish with minor historic finish wear.
The glass has significant silvering loss and age-related foxing around the margins. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form part of the condition report.
